Collection: Shubankar Tarafdar
Shubhankar Tarafdar, born on April 25, 1975, is a distinguished visual artist who embraces the power of spontaneous creation. With a B.F.A. in Indian Painting from B.K. College of Art & Craft, Bhubaneswar, and an M.F.A. in Painting from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, his work blends traditional and contemporary elements with profound depth. His journey spans numerous exhibitions, including at Lalit Kala Academy, AIFACS, Academy of Fine Arts Kolkata, and Jahangir Art Gallery in Mumbai, among others. A participant in various prestigious workshops, his works have earned accolades such as the Junior Fellowship (HRD),
Orissa Lalit Kala Annual Award, and AIFACS Award. Through his art, Shubhankar delves into the philosophical exploration of human commodification, illustrating the transformation of individuals into mere products of their surroundings. His "Perfection" series encapsulates the struggle for idealized success amidst societal pressures, making his work a compelling visual discourse on identity, freedom, and societal constraints.
