Collection: Sambit Panda

Sambit Panda (b. 1976, Odisha, India) is a versatile artist whose works reflect his inquisitive nature and his exploration of societal thoughts and environmental themes. He holds an M.F.A. in History of Art from the National Museum Institute, New Delhi (2006), and a BFA from B K College of Art, Bhubaneswar, Utkal University of Culture (2003). Panda's art spans across painting, drawing, installations, and video performance, blending influences from Surrealism, Minimalism, and traditional art forms. His works often evoke a dialogue around urbanization, ecology, and societal values, creating uncommon imagery from daily life. Panda’s solo exhibitions include shows in Berlin (2012), London (2011), and New Delhi (2009), while his group exhibitions feature significant international platforms. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the ‘Chitranadi Sanman’ (2011) and ‘Chitrasilpi Sanman’ (2009).

Panda’s works are in global collections, and he continues to contribute to art workshops and seminars. He currently lives and works in New Delhi. This series explores the peacock as a symbol of resilience, transformation, and cultural mythology amidst urban landscapes, highlighting its deep connection to human emotions, growth, and the quest for self-expression.
