Born in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh

Ajay Kumar is a contemporary sculptor and art educator working in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. Currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Fine Arts from Nirwan University, Jaipur, he holds an M.F.A. in Sculpture from the College of Arts and Crafts, Lucknow University (2018) and a B.F.A. from Raja Mansingh Tomar University, Gwalior (2016). He has taught at the College of Arts & Crafts, Lucknow, and earlier at C.S.J.M. University, Kanpur.

His research focuses on Indian tribal, terracotta, and Dhokra art traditions, with several UGC-approved journal publications. A recipient of multiple national and international awards—including the Michel Angelo Award (2022)—Ajay has participated in numerous art camps and curated installations exploring themes of environment, devotion, and social consciousness. His sculptures, made from stone, metal, wood, and scrap, reflect a meditative blend of spirituality, ecology, and human experience, embodying India’s living cultural heritage.
