Collection: Dr. Supriya Amber

Born in 1981 in Rajouri, Jammu & Kashmir, and originally from Bihar, Dr. Supriya Amber spent her formative years in Surguja, Chhattisgarh—an environment of coal mines, tribal life, and wilderness that profoundly shaped her creative sensibility. Later pursuing higher education in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, she completed her Ph.D. on Padmabhushan A. Ramachandran, whose narrative and symbolic approach deeply influenced her thinking.

Her artistic journey began with sketching and gradually evolved into a multidisciplinary practice encompassing painting, poetry, theatre, and cultural activism. In recent years, she has been exploring the Baiga godna (tattoo) motifs, integrating indigenous visual languages with contemporary aesthetics to build dialogues between tradition and modernity.

Author of A. Ramachandran: Other Stories Behind Lotus Pond and recipient of the Senior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture (2022–23), Supriya Amber continues to exhibit her works nationally and internationally. Her art remains a vibrant confluence of personal memory, lived experience, and collective cultural narratives.
