Collection: Rajendra Prasad

Born on 1958, Uttar Pradesh, India, Rajendra Prasad is one of the distinguished exponents of the Wash Technique, a medium that beautifully fuses the essence of Tempera and Ink & Wash painting. Trained at the College of Arts and Crafts, Lucknow, Prasad belongs to the artistic lineage that traces back to Asit Kumar Haldar and Nandalal Bose, who introduced the wash style from Kolkata in 1912. Under the influence of B.N. Arya, the technique gained international recognition, and Rajendra Prasad, along with contemporaries like Rajeev Mishra and Bharav Nath, carried this tradition forward with renewed vision.

Prasad’s paintings are distinguished by their ethereal luminosity—light seems to emerge gently from within the washed hues, creating a tranquil, dream-like atmosphere. His elegant figures, inspired by Ajanta murals, Mughal miniatures, and Rajasthani art, evoke timeless grace.

Themes in his art range from serene Buddhist symbolism to the divine love of Krishna and Radha, and poetic depictions of rural Indian life—women at daily chores, fishermen casting nets, and pastoral scenes bathed in soft mist. His works blend realism and spirituality, celebrating the quiet dignity and emotional depth of everyday existence.
