Collection: Padma Shri Vijay Sharma, Himachal Pradesh

Most celebrated miniature painters, art historians, and cultural scholars. Deeply rooted in the Pahari school of painting, especially the Basholi and Kangra styles, Sharma’s work reflects a rare blend of traditional mastery and historical insight.

Encouraged by his father at an early age, he pursued art training in Banaras and later refined his miniature techniques under Ved Pal Sharma at Bharat Kala Bhavan. His artistic evolution was also shaped by his close study of the collections at Bhuri Singh Museum, where he is now an accredited artist.

Founder and president of Shilpa Parishad, a trust dedicated to promoting miniature art, Sharma has participated in numerous national workshops and residencies. His deep engagement with India’s artistic heritage extends to his roles as a member of the Himachal Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, and executive member of the North Zone Cultural Centre.

Recipient of the Padma Shri (2012), Kalidas Samman (2011), and several national awards, Vijay Sharma continues to uphold and rejuvenate India’s miniature painting tradition through his practice, research, and teaching.
