Collection: Dr. Kumud Singh

Dr. Kumud Singh Born on  1964, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh,

Dr. Kumud Singh is an accomplished visual artist, scholar, and former Head of the Department of Fine Arts at K.S. Saket P.G. College, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. She holds an M.A. in Fine Arts and Ancient History and a Ph.D. in Painting from Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University. Her doctoral research, “Folk Paintings and Artifacts Used in the Festivals of Eastern Uttar Pradesh: An Analytical Study,” reflects her deep engagement with regional art traditions.

She believes that culture can only be understood in the continuity of tradition and that civilization’s development nurtures art’s evolution. Concerned about the decline of Bhojpuri folk painting due to neglect, she strives to revive it through her creative and academic work.

A recipient of the Bajaj Auto Ltd. Fellowship (2017), Dr. Singh has exhibited widely in India and abroad. Through her art, she seeks to preserve the natural symbols of life and pass on their living tradition.
