Collection: Rakesh Ratan Nath, New Delhi

Born on 1984, Odisha, India, Rakesh Ratan Nath is a contemporary Indian painter whose practice delves into the organic interplay between texture, color, and emotion. Working primarily with acrylics in impasto technique, his canvases evoke a tactile dialogue between chaos and harmony. His series of abstract works—most notably the pink and green compositions—embody a meditation on human relationships and ecological interdependence. The thick, sculptural paint surfaces mimic living forms such as tentacles, vines, or neural pathways, symbolizing emotional and natural entanglements. Through layered color and controlled distortion, Rakesh constructs visual metaphors for connection, vulnerability, and resilience, inviting viewers to confront the ambiguities of attachment and release.

A graduate of Utkal University of Culture, Bhubaneswar, where he earned both his BFA (2004) and MFA (2006), Rakesh has exhibited widely across India and abroad, including at Lalit Kala Akademi, AIFACS, and international venues in Kazakhstan. Professionally, he has served as a Senior Artist at Parliament House Museum (New Delhi) and as an Art Conservator at the National Museum and Gandhi Smriti, combining artistic creation with preservation.
