Collection: Mainaz Bano

Born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, in 1987, Mainaz Bano is an accomplished contemporary painter whose practice bridges tradition and modernity through an introspective visual language. A Gold Medalist from the College of Arts and Crafts, University of Lucknow, she completed her B.V.A. in 2009 and M.V.A. in 2011, both with distinction.

Mainaz’s works explore the subtle tensions between identity, emotion, and the environment, often weaving poetic narratives through layered imagery and delicate chromatic balance. Her evolving visual vocabulary merges metaphor with material, where each line and texture becomes a meditative act of self-reflection.

A recipient of several prestigious honors, including the AIFACS Painting Award (2017) and the State Lalit Kala Akademi Award (2012), she has held multiple solo exhibitions with Apparao Galleries and participated in major national and international shows across India, Korea, Bhutan, China, and Thailand.

Currently based in Lucknow, Mainaz continues to work with sensitivity and depth, creating art that embodies both personal emotion and collective resonance.
