Collection: Mohammed Suleman

Artistic journey originates from Dalsinghsarai in Samastipur, Bihar, Mohammed Suleman extends into a deeply reflective exploration of Indian mythology through a contemporary lens. Educated at Banaras Hindu University (BFA, 2005) and College of Arts & Crafts, Lucknow University (MFA, 2007), and currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Painting at Mangalayatan University, Aligarh, Suleman’s academic and spiritual grounding resonate profoundly in his visual language.

His works draw inspiration from Hindu mythological imagery, particularly figures such as Lord Ganesha, Shiva, Krishna, and Nandi. Suleman reinterprets these deities through abstract and symbolic compositions, blending divine iconography with natural motifs like flowers and foliage. The recurring form of Nandi—rendered with strength yet serenity—serves as a central metaphor for endurance, faith, and balance.

Executed primarily in mixed media on paper and canvas, his paintings carry an etched texture and rhythmic linearity reminiscent of ancient reliefs. Through a sophisticated play of form and surface, Suleman preserves the spiritual essence of tradition while offering it renewed contemporary relevance.
