Collection: Chandra Pal Panjre

Born 1990, Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh,

Chandrapal Panjre is a contemporary artist known for transforming the traditional Kantha technique into a unique form of visual expression. He completed his Master of Fine Arts (2017–18) from I.K.S. University, Khairagarh. Using discarded textiles as both canvas and colour, he layers five to twelve pieces of cloth and hand-stitches them with needle, thread, and wool. Through this process, he creates intricate compositions that reflect rural life, culture, and personal introspection.

His work represents a journey through memory and silence—each stitch becoming a meditative act that connects craft, emotion, and identity. Chandrapal has exhibited in major national and international shows, including the Lalit Kala Akademi National Exhibition, CIMA Awards Show, and Abir India’s First Take. His solo exhibitions include Kantha (Triveni Gallery, 2020), Untold Story (Arushi Art Gallery, 2022), and Sujni (Saraca Art Gallery, 2024).

Recipient of several honours such as the Prafulla Dhanukar Art Foundation State Award (2017) and Abir India Award (2023), he lives and works in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh.
