Collection: Meenakshi Jha Bannerjeee

Born in Bihar and based in New Delhi, Meenakshi Jha Banerjee is a contemporary artist whose practice bridges the rich narrative traditions of Mithila with the layered language of modern expression. A self-taught artist with a background in Sanskrit literature and design, her works merge intuitive symbolism with refined aesthetics, transforming folk idioms into timeless, contemporary metaphors.

For over twenty-five years, Meenakshi has explored themes of womanhood, mythology, and collective memory through intricate patterns and luminous color fields. Her art celebrates the feminine spirit—resilient, intuitive, and deeply connected to the cycles of nature and culture. Each canvas unfolds as a lyrical dialogue between the past and the present, between tradition and reinvention.

Her works have been showcased in leading national and international exhibitions, and she is the recipient of the Senior Fellowship in Visual Arts (2024–26) from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Meenakshi continues to live and work in New Delhi, creating art that resonates with emotional truth and cultural continuity.
