Born on 1956 in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad),
Dr. Stuti Singhal is a painter and academic known for her mastery of the wash technique. She earned her B.A. and M.A. in Sanskrit from Lucknow University (1975, 1977), M.A. in Fine Arts (1985), and Ph.D. in Painting (1992) from Kanpur University. Her artistic journey is marked by over a hundred works that explore spirituality, purity, and the human condition through delicate tonal layers.
She has held solo exhibitions at Kala Srot Art Gallery, Lucknow (2019); Karnataka Chitrakala Parishad, Bangalore (2012); and Arya Niwas Hotel, Jaipur (2011). She received the Greek Government Scholarship (Athens School of Art, 1989–90) and Bharatmuni Shikshak Samman (2021).
In Lamp of Chastity, a young girl, accompanied by a dog symbolizing lust, strives to preserve purity. The glowing lamp signifies inner virtue resisting social evils, expressed through fluid translucence of wash technique.
